MediaTech.Hub provides grants and other support for reporters to produce high-quality, unbiased, nonpartisan investigative stories that have an impact. Freelance journalists, staff reporters and media outlets are eligible for grants, and their investigations can be for print, online or broadcast stories, books, documentaries or podcasts.

SECTION 2: STORY OUTLINE, PUBLICATION AGREEMENT AND PRIORITY AREAS

A: Story Idea

B: Publication Agreement

The purpose of the grant is to enable you to investigate an issue that you would not have been able to pursue without financial support. The mutual agreement requires you to provide evidence that you have approached a media outlet about your story idea and that they have an intention to go ahead with publishing/broadcasting of the story upon completion. Please provide the following details:

v. List any recent links to published articles (within 3-6 months)
vi. Attach a signed and stamped letter from the editor stating his/her knowledge of your proposed story and an intention of publication.

1. Consumables may include resources required for undertaking your work.
2. Airtime/ internet etc. Airtime expenses should have receipts.
Other costs are any other costs not mentioned above if necessary to complete your news assignment. They must be reflected in the work plan. 3. All expenses must be accompanied by genuine receipts.
4. This grant does not support purchase of equipment. Batteries and other consumables may be included but should not exceed KES2,000.
